Reach and Recognition

Broadcast and Distribution

The three films have been aired on a number of networks since their launch. MNET maintained exclusive rights to broadcast the films for 18 months (through December 1, 2014), after which they were uploaded to the Swahiliwood YouTube channel. The films were licensed to EATV for broadcast during the 2014 festive season, and Azam TV for broadcast during the 2015 holiday period.

All three films were placed on the Swahiliwood YouTube channel in December 2014, where they continue to be popular features. At the end of March 2016, Network had 13,886 views, Sunshine had 21,481, and Mdundiko had an impressive 99,516 views.

DVDs were initially distributed through Proin Promotions, and then through an innovative partnership with the Tanzania Video Library Association (TVLA). Copies of each of the Swahiliwood features were made available to 2,000 of TVLA’s biggest member libraries across the country, where each library purchased three copies of each title for lending purposes. Hundreds of copies have been distributed to the Ministry and NGO partners, who use them in their programs.
