The Institute for Reproductive Health has developed three fertility awareness-based methods of family planning - the Standard Days Method®, TwoDay Method®, and Lactational Amenorrhea Method - that are practiced in over 30 countries around the world. The Standard Days Method (SDM) is the first fertility awareness-based family planning method to be widely offered in public sector programs. The SDM is also successfully offered at the community level and in the private sector. The SDM is included the norms and guidelines of 16 countries.
IRH works in five focus countries under the FAM Project: Democratic Republic of Congo, Guatemala, India, Mali and Rwanda. IRH also works offering technical assistance in other non-focus countries around the world. Read about experiences introducing the SDM below.
