This is a good initiative but just like the write up pointed out,its removable within 12 months but can last between 18 to 24 which means after 18 months it's not possible to have it removed. Just like sutures where there are some reactions like stitch sinus,what if some adverse effects or adverse events occur after 18 months post insertion as some women report when they have other non biodegradable implants inserted,what measures will be taken? As a family planning provider, sexual and reproductive health specialist in Nigeria a lot of myths will really cause a drawback to the usage of this biodegradable implant. But really, it's a good initiative and I welcome the idea.
