Vanessa Mitchell

CCP | Technical Advisor

Vanessa is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh as the Project Coordinator for the Bangladesh Knowledge Management Initiative (BKMI) under the global Knowledge for Health (K4Health) project. She is also a Technical Advisor to the Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) of the Bangladesh Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), providing capacity building and technical assistance in the areas of Behavior Change Communication (BCC) and Knowledge Management (KM) for nutrition. Previous to her posting in Dhaka, Vanessa worked for K4Health in Baltimore conducting and analyzing needs assessments globally to better understand the health information and on the job needs of health professionals working at different levels of the health system. The information collected was used to ensure that they could be be reached with the right information, in the right format at the right time. 

Vanessa received her MPH in Nutrition in 2007 from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and served as a Community HIV/AIDS Prevention Peace Corps volunteer in Togo, West Africa. Her particular interest is in how Information Communication Technology (ICT), and simple eHealth tools and programs can be used to improve health in communities. She has traveled extensively and even knows her own passport number. She is a lover of animals, documentary films, and speaks fluent English, French, Spanish and is slowly learning Bangla.
