Sam Wambugu

MEASURE Evaluation | Senior Health Informatics Specialist

Mr. Sam Wambugu has over 15 years of experience in designing and implementing systems for generating strategic information for decision-making in low-and-middle income countries. He has worked in many countries in Africa including Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Swaziland, Zambia, and Liberia. His expertise includes development and roll-out of electronic medical records, mHealth solutions, data governance systems, and monitoring and evaluation. In the last two years, Mr. Wambugu has expanded his work to include the growing field of digital health data security and ethics, information systems interoperability, and health information systems enterprise architecture. He works for ICF as part of USAID’S MEASURE Evaluation project for strengthening global and country health information systems. In this capacity, he leads the project's health informatics portfolio. Mr. Wambugu is also a technology columnist for Kenya’s Sunday Nation newspaper. He is based at the MEASURE Evaluation office at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, USA.
