Laura Hoemeke

IntraHealth International | Director of Communications and Advocacy

Laura Hoemeke, MPH, DrPH, is IntraHealth International’s Director of Communications and Advocacy. She has nearly 25 years of experience in global health, including long-term country assignments in the Central African Republic, Benin, Senegal, and Rwanda, and short-term assignments throughout East, West, and Central Africa. She has expertise and experience in integrated health service delivery and health systems strengthening, as well as maternal and child health, reproductive health, and prevention and control of infectious diseases. In early 2003, Hoemeke joined IntraHealth International as Regional Director for West and Central Africa, based in Senegal. From 2005 through early 2010, Hoemeke was based in Rwanda as the director of IntraHealth’s USAID-funded Twubakane Decentralization and Health Program. In 2010, she joined IntraHealth’s headquarters leadership team, overseeing communications and global and country-level advocacy initiatives. She earned a doctorate in health policy and management from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, an MPH from Johns Hopkins University, and a BS in journalism from Northwestern University.
