Kathleen Shears

FHI 360 | Senior Science Writer

Kathleen Shears, MS, is a senior science writer who works with the Research Utilization team at FHI 360 to translate public health research findings into evidence-based policies and practices. For more than 20 years, she has served as a communications manager, writer, and editor for international health and development studies and projects. A former newspaper reporter and congressional aide, Kathleen began her career in international health as a writer supporting efforts to control vector-borne diseases. At FHI 360, she has helped develop and implement strategies to communicate and apply the results of HIV prevention trials, large-scale HIV prevention and care initiatives, and implementation research in HIV and sexual and reproductive health. Kathleen has a master’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
