Boniface Sebikali, MD, MPH

Boniface Sebikali, MD, MPH, has more than 20 years of experience in supporting improvements in reproductive health and family planning (RH/FP) and maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) service delivery. He has extensive experience in quality assurance/supportive supervision, management and implementation of clinical and community-based service programs in public-private sector across Africa and Caribbean region. He has contributed to the development of national service guidelines in many countries including Cameroon, Togo, Mali, Benin, Ghana, Guinea and Rwanda. He supported the introduction of active management of the third stage of labor in Mali and Benin. He has trained several health professionals in MNCH, Nutrition, FP/STI/HIV prevention, infection prevention, and community health services in West, Central and South Africa, and Eastern-Caribbean.

He supported the introduction of community-provider partnership approach to quality in Rwanda, Benin and Madagascar. He is co-leading the development of a toolkit for Optimizing Performance and Quality, one of IntraHealth’s signature methodologies to improve the quality of facility and community health services and to build capacity of local organizations to achieve health or institutional goals.

Dr. Sebikali has served in various capacities in West Africa, including Area Program Manager for Central/West Africa, Country Director in Benin, and Regional Clinical Program Officer for Central/West Africa. He is currently Senior Clinical Training Advisor at IntraHealth International in North Carolina and QA Advisor for the PSI-led SIFPO Project. Before joining IntraHealth, Dr. Sebikali was the Deputy Director for the World Health Organization Regional Family Health Training and Research Center in Rwanda.
