University of Oxford Global Health Summer School July 5-9, 2010

The University of Oxford Department of Public Health and the Department for Continuing Education present a one-week Summer School designed to introduce participants to topics central to current global health research and to provide an understanding of the principles, methods and practice of global health.

The Global Health Summer School will aid in developing appropriate skills in relation to participants' work in global and public health and to help participants understand how research evidence, ethical frameworks and programme evaluation can impact on and be used in global and public health.

The Summer School consists of three units spread over five days, with participants attending all three units. Each day will include a key plenary session on a global health topic, following which participants will cover each of the following:

* Research Methods - Introduction to Epidemiological Studies, Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis
* Designing and Evaluating Public Health Programmes
* Ethics for Global Health
