AIDF is a free-to-attend, integrated exhibition and conference aimed at the humanitarian relief and development sector, tackling the issues central to day-to-day operations. The principal aim is to bring together procurement professionals, practitioners and policy leaders from governments, UN, NGOs and private organizations to highlight the challenges faced by the aid and development sector, share best practices, exhibit new technologies and services and create new partnerships.
This seminar will bring together scientists, policy makers, and programme managers to present and discuss a range of issues relating to the definition, determinants and consequences of unmet need in family planning and programme interventions designed specifically to reduce unmet need in groups at high risk.
The theme for this year is:"The World Needs Midwives Now More than Ever!"
This overarching theme and sub theme that "Midwives Save Lives" is increasingly relevant as the 2015 deadline for realizing the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) draws ever closer.
Each year, the Committee for the United Nations Population Award presents an award to an individual(s) and/or institution(s) in recognition of outstanding contributions to increasing the awareness of population questions and to their solution. The Award, which was established by the General Assembly in November 1981, in resolution 36/201, and was first presented in 1983, consists of a gold medal, a diploma and a monetary prize. Nominations for the award are accepted through 31 December of each year.
